About the Art Walk
Red Wing ArtWalk - Art in the Heart of Red Wing - showcases a blend of over 30 contemporary and permanent art pieces in Red Wing’s beautiful historic downtown. Annually the Red Wing Sculpture Walk includes nine rotating sculptures added in the spring. In addition to the these temporary installations, the ArtWalk features numerous public art pieces that are part of Red Wing’s permanent collection, offering a rich and diverse experience for art enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy a variety of artistic styles and expressions as they explore the city’s vibrant art scene.
Follow the interactive map to stroll through our charming downtown streets and enjoy each piece. The ArtWalk also meanders down to the Mississippi riverfront and Levee Park, where the path will lead you past the unique floating boathouse village to Baypoint Park. From this vantage point, you can view the Bridge of Valor which spans the river connecting Minnesota and Wisconsin; It’s truly a work of engineering artistry.
Sculpture Walk: Nine sculptures are on loan and will be replaced in 2025 with nine new, temporary pieces. They were chosen by a peer review panel of 15 community members. They are for sale by the artists; for inquiries, please contact info@redwingarts.org or call 651-388-7659.
Special thanks for supporting this year’s Sculpture Walk: City of Red Wing’s Public Works Department , Neufeldt Industrial Services, and Eau Claire Sculpture Tour.
The Sculpture Walk is funded by Red Wing Arts, the City of Red Wing’s Arts & Culture Commission Arts Fund, and the generosity of local philanthropic groups with a shared vision to enrich our community, entice new commerce, and encourage newcomers to return.
The Sculpture Walk pilot project to bring sculptures to Red Wing was a partnership between Red Wing Arts, Downtown Main Street, the City of Red Wing, the Public Art Liaisons (the PALS) Committee of Curt Gruhl, Art Kenyon, and Becky Poss; and Sculpture Tour Eau Claire.

Our rotating sculptures on loan come from a partnership with Sculpture Tour Eau Claire, which also led us to find Maestro, Jake on Bass, and Synchronous - permanent additions to our collection. We want to thank its director, Julie Pangallo, who encouraged us to make our dream a reality. Her extensive connections with regional and national artists who are willing to lease their sculptures was invaluable to us, and her guidance helped make many of the steps toward the completion of this project possible. Backstory
It all began with a road trip…..
This sculpture project began when a group of Red Wing art lovers traveled to Mankato to investigate a sculpture installation that was part of an active arts alliance. Art Kenyon, Curt Gruhl, and Becky Poss then formed the PALS, Public Art Liaisons. They, along with others, visited similar installations to study other programs and to consider the possibilities for our city. Red Wing Downtown Main Street and Red Wing Arts were natural non-profit partners for developing a downtown sculpture program. The planning began. Funding was secured and a selection of gorgeous outdoor sculptures from across the country was created.
